My Venturi Flying Wing from flyingwings.co.uk has come out of hibernation and took to the skies for the first time since November 2012. In the flight below, I was just testing the Eagle Tree Return to Home feature following the last flight when the gains were not good. It appears the tweaks in the software have done the trick as the RTH worked fine despite the brisk headwind. A couple of people have asked me to do a video on setting up the Eagle Tree RTH, so I'll see what I can do over the next few weeks as it seems people seem to have problems with triggering it without actually turning the transmitter off! Anyway, here is a video I captured of the Venturi flying on Sunday 21st April.
Over the past couple of weeks, I've been building a DJI F450 Flame Wheel quad equipped with a Naza M control board and GPS. After a couple of flights hovering and testing the RTH, I fixed the FPV camera onto the frame and FPV'd her for the first time. All was great and I know I'm going to have a lot of fun with this aircraft in 2013. I'm just waiting for the delivery of a tilting camera mount which will hold the GoPro and FPV camera. Once this arrives, then I should be able to put the thing in a hover and angle the cameras 45 degress to look directly down. Shame the OSD recording came out in black and white. Will have to ceck why that was for next time. Watch this space for more.
